Munich, April 1, 2025. As of today, David Willemsen takes over the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Tion Renewables Group (“Tion”). Willemsen, who has held the position of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) since April 1, 2024, will henceforth be responsible for the business units “Performance Management”, comprising the company’s internal asset management and commercialization, as well as “IT and Data Management”. The industrial engineer has been working in the renewable energy sector since 2010.
As COO, the 38-year-old combines the tasks of internal asset management, the offtake of electricity from the company’s own plants (together: “Performance Management”), as well as IT and data management, and comments: “I would like to thank the Management Board for the trust placed in me. More than ever, my work is now aimed at leveraging every possible synergy to achieve maximum production volumes with our wind and solar plants, sell our green electricity at the best prices, and continue to digitize our internal processes day by day.”
Since entering the renewable energy sector 15 years ago, the industrial engineer, who specializes in electricity and flexibility trading, has remained loyal to the industry. After having started at RWE, he has inter alia worked for Trianel, E.ON, and most recently Pexapark, a Swiss software developer for commercialization, where he led the risk management team for almost three years from September 2021. A year ago, Willemsen finally joined Tion Renewables in the role of CCO.
Ingmar Helmke, CEO of the company, adds: “David Willemsen made the energy transition his profession even before it was on everyone’s lips. He now not only contributes his extensive experience profitably to Tion but is also always available to his colleagues as a sparring partner and leads his team by example. We are therefore delighted that we could inspire David for our new role of COO.”
